Gifts from a stranger...
Actually from several, I think. She mentioned *the ladies* so I think it was a group effort.
Anyways...here are some linen samples and either corduroy or chenille ones (the smaller ones)
The linen ones are bigger than 12" each
Here we have some of those panels that make stuffed toys and 1 fabric book, the book I will save in case Sarita has another baby :-)
fqs, 1/4 and 1/2 yards
a bonus surprise..how did they know!! 5 12.5" b/w squares to begin my b/w/r quilt! How cool is that!?
yardage...and I do mean yardage,,some of these stretch across my whole kitchen!!
teacher and Halloween vest and a cool tree skirt that has pockets for gifts, that is going to be made and given to Sarita as a Christmas gift this year. Now that she has moved out, she can use one :-)
squares, scraps, strips...I definitely see a strip quilt in my future..tons of strips in here,
an adorable 6 panel piece, all 6 panels are like these 2
other goodies...patterns, books, threads
Only once before in my life have I been given so much by folks who didn't know me. Well actually, the ladies I am talking about have always done so much for me. To them I want to say right now..thank you for always being there and being so caring and generous. You are my friends, my sisters, my family. In the words of the owner of the group *Have I told you lately that I love you*?
The women that have done this today...well it is unbelievable! The women on the group had at least read posts so *knew* me a bit, these women have never heard a word from me, but did this based on a newspaper article. Simply to help a fellow human being in some way, I imagine the fact I was a quilter helped too :-)
Anyhow...thank you to all the wonderful women who may read this! This world needs more folks like you all!

YOUR RIGHTS TO YOUR PHOTGRAPHS ARE GONE!!!!!!!
Body: Re: Shawn Bentley Orphan Works Act of 2008
American photographers and artists are loosing even more rights! Photos of your baby taken from your public blog could end up on sex toys for sale. Your teens Myspace picture could be used in a 900 line commercial and there's not a thing you could do to stop it. A classy painting your American soul slaved over for years could be stolen to be marketed on garbage bags, with NO royalties paid to the artist.
The CURRENT May 17, 2008 Senate version of the Orphan Works legislation is a nightmare for those who work with photographs at all. Public showing of images and art, especially on the Net, will no longer have value for the artist with there being NO legal consequenses for misuse of photographic images; we will in effect be raped of our creations.
Now everbody really WILL be an artist -- at your expense!
The changes that went through today say that it doesn't matter if an infringer looks for an owner at all. Soon there will, in effect, be no copyright on visual art in America. BUT, it is not a final version yet and could get dumped altogether in several years time, after a study of the effects (they have to see how badly it hurts us first -- really!). There will be more changes before the concrete is set, but I wouldn't hold my breath as to those changes being any good.
Each round of new changes makes it worse for us and better for the sacred almighty "infringers", as they say. How on earth can this possibly gel with International copyright laws?!? Will we be in violation as a total country? YES! How will the new system distinguish between my American images and those of, say, a Canadian sisters images??? There's no way to tell, so this whole thing is bound to create a giant retarded mess, but it is a fact.
We're loosing our lefts AND our rights!

Orphan Works Act
Whether you create art with your camera, paints, fabric a pen or anything else, you NEED to read this!! And then you NEED to act on it!
If you created it, why should OTHERS profit from it??
Read the article:
http://mag.awn.com/index.php?ltype=Columns&article_no=3605&
Don't want to read the whole thing? Here is the IMPORTANT part from the article:
"If the Orphan Works legislation passes, you and I and all creatives will lose virtually all the rights to not only our future work but to everything we've created over the past 34 years, unless we register it with the new, untested and privately run (by the friends and cronies of the U.S. government) registries. Even then, there is no guarantee that someone wishing to steal your personal creations won't successfully call your work an orphan work, and then legally use it for free.
In short, if Congress passes this law, YOU WILL LOSE THE RIGHT TO MAKE MONEY FROM YOUR OWN CREATIONS! "
